Barfield Pupils Meet Famous Jockeys At Goodwood

Barfield Pupils Meet Famous Jockeys At Goodwood

On Friday 20th May, the Year 6 children from Barfield School visited Goodwood to experience all which a day's racing at one of the most beautiful of racecourses has to offer.

The Headmaster, James Reid, had been invited to judge the Best Turned Out Horse in the 3rd Race, and then to present the trophy to the winning connections. Once the presentation had taken place, the children were invited into the Winners' Enclosure for a group photo and then Seamus Buckley, The Clerk Of The Course, arranged for them to exchange a few words and to have a quick photo taken with Frankie Dettori, one of the world's most well-known jockeys. He had to dash off to another meeting; however, Ryan Moore - arguably the best flat racing jockey in the world, and someone not known for giving lengthy interviews - then spent a good ten minutes talking with the Barfield children. The boys and girls really appreciated the events of the day and were very grateful to the various staff at Goodwood for providing them with such memories.
