Raising of the Commonwealth Flag

Our Head Boy and Head Girl were very proud to participate in the town's Commonwealth Day Ceremony.  There are 53 countries in The Commonwealth and all over the world on this day, ceremonies such as these were held. Ben and Freya joined with two pupils from Waverley Abbey in unfurling the Commonwealth Flag outside the Town Council Offices. The assembled throng then walked to the town's War Memorial and two pupils from Heath End School read out a letter which was written home by a man from Farnham while he was serving in the World War I trenches. A candle was then lit. It was a short and simple ceremony; however, it gave those gathered an opportunity to pause and reflect on times passed.
